view of the estuary

Approach

The Old Manse is approached from the main Road – West End – via a tarmacked drive. The name of the house is clearly visible on the gate post on the main road, and again on the gate post to the parking area. There is no lighting on the bottom drive.

Parking

There is a gravelled parking area in front of the house with ample parking , with a level walk leading to the stepped path to the front door.

Lighting

The Old Manse is situated well back from the main road and it is not brightly lit. The car parking area has a security light and the front door to the house is lit during the evening. We recommend that guests bring a torch or flashlight if they intend to go for an evening stroll along the estuary .

The Old Manse

There are three wide steps leading to the front door and turning through 90o with no handrail, leading over a threshold into a wide hallway.

Our guest bedrooms are on the first floor. They are accessed via a staircase in two flights, 10 steps and 4 steps with a 1 step half-landing in between with gentle steps and a firm handrail. The hall and stairs are well lit and a night light is left on the landing overnight.

Each bedroom has a fitted carpet, main light switch beside the door and bedside lights next to the bed.

Fire escape route is down the main stairs and through the front entrance.

Bathrooms and ensuite both have vinyl floors. The ensuite has a large shower, the bathroom has a separate shower and bath.
